Anti-Oppression Lens in Youth Work

February 28, 2018 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm America/Los Angeles Timezone

Anti-Oppression Lens in Youth Work invites participants to explore the concepts of white supremacy, systemic racism, heterosexism, internalized oppression, gatekeeping, and much more in order to gain a stronger analysis of oppression.

We will look at our own history of racial marginalization in Seattle/King County, and participants will engage in group exercises to increase personal awareness of participant’s social location within these complex systems.

Lastly, we will look at tools in how to best work with youth of color, 2SLGBTQIA youth, and other youth on the margins. All are invited & encouraged to attend.

This training occurs on the 4th Wednesday of every month.

If planning to attend, please RSVP using the form below by the Monday before the training:

I thought I had already RSVPed to this but see I didn’t. Is it too late? My son, Landon Bennett, works for you and I’m thinking of volunteering with you. These trainings look amazing. Let me know if it’s okay to cone tonight.

Hi Kris! It is perfectly okay to come tonight, but if it’s too late (sorry we didn’t see this til now!), this training happens every fourth Wednesday of every month.
